Daring Bakers – October 2011 – Povitica
This month’s challenge – Povitica. Have you ever heard of it? Nope? Me neither. Well apparently, Povitica is a traditional Eastern European dessert bread and in English can be better described as a Nutroll. Long story short, you make the dough, roll it out, spread the nut filling over the dough, roll it back up into a log, and twist the log around itself in a pan. Bake it, and voila, when you slice it you get an intricate circular design on every piece. Not too sweet, not too dense, as my taste tester A said “perfect with a cup of tea” – indeed.
Wow that povitica looks absolutely delicious.
Love your blog photographs.
